This is Part 2 in our ongoing series to tell the stories of the special needs dogs who live with visible scars — survivors of car accidents, cruelty, and neglect. Their bodies are broken, but their spirits remain strong. We are introducing them all. One group at a time.

Hopefully it helps them find homes.

👉 If you missed Part 1, meet the first six special needs dogs here.

Featuring 6 of our special needs dogs

These are not viral rescue cases. These dogs aren’t Instagram-famous.

But they are real and they really deserve to be pampered and loved.

Yet they are stuck at the harsh shelter, with 1.500 other rescue dogs, all waiting for a miracle.

Pirate had endured unbearable pain. He was found with his sky blue eye gauged. Please give him a home.

Pirate – One eye, endless soul

Pirate was found with one of his stunning sky-blue eyes cruelly gouged out. His pain must have been unbearable. He’s a beautiful, resilient boy with one soulful eye that sees the world, and still believes in good.

He deserves far more than the shelter can give.

Please offer him a home.

Foxy is a rescue dog who's front leg was amputated. She needs a loving home!

Foxy – Broken, but not bitter

With her caramel coat and gentle eyes, Foxy is a sweet girl. She was hit by a car and lost her front leg, but has adapted to her new body. She's still able to walk in her way, but would do so much better in the comforts of a home.

She’s ready. She just needs someone to notice her.

Bella is a young German Shepherd tripod with the loveliest nature.

Craigey – A true survivor

Another car accident. Another amputated leg. Craigey came close to losing his life but only lost his hind leg.

He’s been overlooked again and again.

Maybe it’s time that changed?

Craigey currently has a kind monthly sponsor ❤️

Mouse is a petite tripod dog, a victime of a hit and run.

Mimi – Little body, big heart

Mimi was also hit by a car, in March 2025, and lost her left hind leg. She’s a small Jack Russell type of terrier, but don’t let her size fool you — she’s full of spirit and affection. She gets around on three legs and is longing to have her own humans by her side.

She’s not fragile. She’s just looking for someone gentle.

Benny is a tri-paw boy who wants desperately to leave the shelter and is up for adoption

Benny – Broken but still hoping

Benny is a resilient tripaw boy who lost his front leg to a car. Despite it all, he’s gentle, and adaptable. He doesn’t ask for much — just a quiet space, a soft bed, and someone to love him.

Every day he hopes it's his turn today. But it never is.

Nutella is a sweet shepherd mix dog who lost her front leg after being hit by a car and needs a home

Nutella – A sweet tri-paw girl

Another victim of a hit-and-run. Another life almost lost. We managed to save Nutella's life, but she lost her hind leg. We didn't save this sweet shepherd mix so she could live the rest of her life at the shelter, we saved her to have a real life. A safe home with a soft bed, kind people and loving care.

Can you give her that?

Nutella is kindly sponsored for July 2025.

These dogs deserve more than survival

All six of these dogs were injured by people and/or their cars. None of their original owners came looking. They were abandoned, discarded, left behind.

We did what we could — we saved them. But they don’t belong in a shelter.

Not for the rest of their lives.

Even just by sharing their stories you can help them get a better life.
